It is with heartfelt gratitude and admiration that we extend our deepest appreciation to the individuals and organization behind the remarkable Osei Joseph Project. The legacy of the late Osei Joseph, a beacon of resilience and determination, continues to inspire us all at St. Rose's High School and the wider community. Osei Joseph, a former student of St. Rose’s High School who lived a fulfilling and memorable life until his unfortunate passing in October 2023. Osei was diagnosed with a brain tumour during his 8th-grade year leading to his absence from school. However, his reliance and determination shone through upon his return to school in Grade 9, as he worked assiduously toward achieving his academic goals and succeeded at his Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate Examinations. Subsequently, he proceeded to complete his Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations studies, which he also excelled in, while altogether bravely battling with his diagnosis.
Osei's unwavering spirit and dedication to his academic pursuits, despite facing significant health challenges, serve as a testament to his extraordinary character. The recent presentation of sneakers, duffel bags, uniforms, water bottles and basketballs to the St. Rose's Boys Basketball Team, made possible by the generosity of Flexx Nation and its esteemed donors, stands as a fitting tribute to Osei's passion for sports and learning.
On behalf of the Administration of St. Rose’s High School, I wish to express our sincerest gratitude to each donor, including Andrew Dalgetty, Vanessa Couchman, Sean Doorn, Oslen Best, Ron Frasier, Horace Blackman, Harold Lutchman, Denise Durant, Tracy Solomon, Don Pieters, Royce Doorn, Dr. Karen Vaughan, Deonne McLean, Keith Bowen and Renita Tyler and all others involved in this noble endeavor. Your contributions ensure that Osei's memory remains alive within our school community and beyond. The presence of Dr. Karen Vaughn, Royce Doorn, admins of Flexx Nation, and our distinguished guests including the Headmistress, Ms. Rayon Tobin, the Chair of the Board of Governors, Mr. Kenrick Thomas, Osei's mother Ms. Gloria George-Joseph and Coel Marks, the basketball coach, at the presentation ceremony on July 4th added a touch of grace and dignity to this meaningful event.
We also extend our appreciation to Flexx Nation for their partnership with the Ministry of Education Guyana, as well as the valuable insights provided by the Headmistress and Lorraine Croft-Farnell. Their collaborative efforts have enriched the Osei Joseph Project and strengthened its impact on our school community.
In conclusion, I would like to reiterate our profound gratitude for your unwavering support and compassion. Your collective actions have touched the lives of our students and honored the memory of a remarkable individual, Osei Joseph. Together, we stand as a testament to the power of community and kindness.
Thank you once again for your dedication and generosity.
